Heartbreak

By Melinda Pearl

My friend Stacy was married to her professor at the University. She married him after 3 months of whirlwind courtship. They were the happiest couple I have ever known. I had wondered many a times whether this was what they called an ideal match.

Now after two decades I wonder what happened to all the magic that existed between them once upon a time. Now they cannot stand the sight of each other. Stacy was a successful marketing personnel working for multinational company. She traveled a lot to various countries where their branch offices were there.

Lately she started feeling that her husband was drifting away from her. He felt lonely when Stacy was away on her tours. He also started developing a complex that he was a mismatch for his wife. He felt he was stagnated as a teaching professor at the University. He felt his wife did not have any time for him and she may be cheating on him. This led to a lot of arguments and fights between the two of them.

One day Stacy returned from her work to find her husband with another women on their bed. That was the last straw. Her husband accepted that this had been going on for sometime and that at last he had found his soul mate. Stacy just asked him one question. ‘Why did he do this’. Both of them knew there was nothing much left between the two of them. He could have talked to her about the other woman.

Now here I am waiting with Stacy at the family court for the paperwork to be done for a divorce. I was heartbroken to see their marriage coming to an end. <<
