Review by Gary Geyer
You have never seen anything quite like this before. Starring the Earth and its inhabitants, with excellent commentary by David Attenborough.
It’s a stunning (and I don’t use that word often) record of animals and habitats that sadly, might not be around for much longer! It is totally fascinating and awe inspiring. A standout for me is the footage of the Himalayas and the cliff dwelling snow leopards. Supposedly, it is the only film of its kind in the world!
If you have a large TV (or even if you don’t), you will be blown away by its unparalleled beauty. I couldn’t watch more than 5 minutes without being astounded by something I’d never seen before or knew anything about.
New technology has enabled the camera crews to glimpse scenes of nature that would never have allowed a camera to come within range — like the elusive camels of the Gobi dessert (who eat snow in a land of zero rainfall) or many other forms of life I never knew existed.
You’ll be amazed at different forms of animal behavior like the intricate attack patterns of packs of wild dogs. Their movements are so well coordinated you’d think they are using mental telepathy. Or the polar bears who try desperately to adapt to loss of ice in ways we never knew they could; or birds of paradise who transform themselves in unbelievable ways for their mating rituals.
I could go on and on and on. Suffice to say, this is truly a one-of-a-kind DVD set and belongs in your collection.
As the saying goes, “If you buy just one DVD set this year….”
