My family values are very clear-cut to me. These are the values inculcated by my parents, which I hold sacred and would like to pass on to my children and theirs too if possible. Our family values should be a blend of tradition and modernity without crossing the boundary too much. Religion should be held sacred and our future generation should be encouraged to follow our traditional practices without sneering at them. Being modern should not mean becoming atheists and condemning religious practices. Respect to elders and especially the old and the infirm is a must. These days youngsters hardly show respect to their parents leave alone to elders in the house. And they do it all in the name of modernity. Decorum should be maintained in dress and behavior since it reflects our upbringing of them. I would certainly condemn following fashion to the point that it brings disgust on the faces of others.

Another important aspect is Honesty. Honesty is becoming rare in this era of globalization and modernization. These values should be inculcated in them even when they are very young. Speaking the truth at all times is a must. Lying, even for fun should be looked down upon. As they say, Honesty is indeed the Best policy. I would also like my children to help people in need. We should always lend a helping hand to the needy and unless we do it first our children wont follow suit. Helping nature, caring and sharing will take them a long way in life. Charity also should be encouraged.
